The second assignment is a Research Proposal. You are expected to prepare a viable proposal for a well-stated and well-developed research question. The Research Proposal delineates the relevant literature, critically engages relevant theory (/ies), develops a model (if appropriate), hypotheses/research questions, and delineates the project’s proposed research method(s). The research proposal will consist of the following sections: introduction, significance of the study, literature review, research questions/hypotheses, method, limitations/delimitations, and references. Appendices are optional. The word count of the Proposal should be 3,500 words, with a minimum of 15 scholarly sources (not including any textbooks or webpages) in the list of references. That is, the Proposal would be approximately 12 double-spaced pages, not including the title page, references, appendices, figures, or tables). Please ensure that the Proposal applies and conforms with the referencing system of your thesis discipline or if in doubt use the Harvard Style or (my preference) the American Psychological Association (APA) Publication Manual (6th edition). Those students currently doing or expecting to do a research thesis need to have their Supervisor (or intended Supervisor) countersign the submission sheet indicating that the Supervisor has read the Proposal.
