researching a problem in sports management
You have been hired as a management consultant for a sport organization (of your choice) that is currently facing a problem (that you identify)—for example, the Miami Marlins hire you to figure out ways to increase attendance.
After a period of investigation, you must present your findings to the owner and/or general manager. For this assignment, you’ll apply the decision-making model discussed in class and highlight your recommendations in the form of a letter to the owner and/or general manager.
Your letter should include the following parts:
Define the problem. In particular, describe the problem you were hired to solve. Additionally, distinguish the symptoms from the causes.
Set objectives and criteria. Be sure to include both objectives and criteria.
Generate alternative. What strategies do you have for addressing the issue? You should provide more than one alternative.
Select the most feasible alternative. What do you consider to be the best solution, and how did you come to that decision?
Implement the decision. Briefly discuss the plans for implementation. Is there a timeline? Do you anticipate any resistance to your decision?
Control the results. How will you evaluate whether your decision is effective or not?
Additionally, the document should be in proper letter format (with a date, recipient’s address, greeting, body, and closing).
