Problem Analysis (Assignment 3 Case Study Report). It consists of identifying the behavioral issues relating to the failure and then finding contemporary research on why such behaviour occur in an organizational context.
The purpose of this assessment item is to help you to develop an understanding of contemporary research on the topic of your main assignment for this course. Your job is akin to that of an investigator who has a problem to be solved and looks for clues on the causes and consequences of the problem. You will use the existing management literature as your toolkit to develop an understanding of the problem you will be tackling in your main assignment.
This annotated bibliography must feed into your individual organisational problem analysis. We strongly urge you to think of these two assessment items part of the same larger project. In the annotated bibliography you will do the groundwork that will enable you to analyse the organisational problem more effectively.
Choose a case of unethical or grossly incompetent conduct from the organisational failures hated below. Each of these failures resulted an official investigation of some sod (either a Royal Commission, a law stet or other official enquiry). You are to access the official investigation and describe briefly what happened, the context, and the consequences of the failure for the organisation’s stakeholders. Your explanation must identify the unethical or grossly incompetent behaviour of one or more people in the organization as the will become the topic of your annotated bibliography.
What does an annotated bibliography look like?
Your bibliography should be presented in three main pads, as follows: a) Introduction (approximately 100-200 words): This section should describe the topic you have chosen and provide a brief rationale for your choice. You should describe the scope of the bibliography and clearly specify any aspects of the topic that it will not address.
I) The bibliography: The bibliography itself should present the full citation of each of the five references. Each citation should be followed by an accurate and representative summary of approximately 210 words. You should include for each article a brief review of its strengths and weaknesses. c) Overall summary and conclusions (approximately 800 wads): This final section should state the central argument you are malting and use the reference material to substantiate your position. It should present your understanding of the topic, identify key variables, and suggest potential solutions or interventions drawn horn the literature you have discussed. You should even-handedly, but critically, evaluate the evidence presented in each article and integrate it into a representative summary. d) Appendix: Please take a screen shot of the front pages (and abstracts where they are not reproduced on the front page) of the articles in your bibliography and include them in an appendix. Note that these are not included in the word count for this piece of assessment. Each one should he clearly labelled with a full citation of its source, using the Harvard Style.
What you are required to do:
There are several steps you should follow when completing this assessment item.
- Once you have chosen your organizational failure from the list provided, you must first decide what the topic or focus of your mail assignment will be. Once you have decided on the problem or issue, you are going to examine the behavioural factors that may contribute to the problem.
- You must then search for academic journal articles on this issue in the ACU Libra, to include in your bibliography. Read the articles thoroughly, think seriously about the messages they deliver and their persuasiveness, and, assess how the articles relate to each other and your topic.
- Finally, You must construct a summary that presents the major issues raised in the articles included in your ennobled bibliography. This summary must present an argument or position in relation to the topic. If the articles you have chosen do not assist you to develop this argument, discard them.
In conducting your bibliography:
You must identify the organizational behavioural factors that led to the failure. The official report is the key to this information. The behaviour will be due to the personal characteristics of the individual behaving, the group dynamics of the people involved and/or the organizational systems and processes that preceded the behaviour.
The challenges in writing the bibliography are to identify the best possible set of relevant journal articles, to make each article thoroughly and to identify the main argument being presented. You must establish that the article makes an important contribution to the topic and write a concise and accurate summary of its content. The skills required to complete these tasks are vitally important for academic study and professional development.
You need to summarise five (5) articles published from 2012 onwards and submit the abstract with your paper. You will need to refer to databases in the library to search for relevant materiel. During your tutorials in week 2 you will have access to a library session with your tutor to help you to select the correct databases for this project. YOU can also at the numerous library sessions run by the librarians and the Office of Student Success. You will need to use the facilities of the ACU ‘data bases to access full journal articles, There are also a number of academic journal articles that have been provided to you in the weekly readings and additional readings in this unit outline. Do not under any circumstances use just an abstract obtained from a web or CD ROM search — you must read the full text of every article that you choose to use.

The basic premise of this article is that an individual’s identification with an organisation is a function Page 8 of IS
of two forces: i) the individual’s beliefs about the distinct, central, and enduring features of the organisation, and (ii) the individual’s beliefs about what outsiders think of the organisation. They refer to the former as ‘perceived organisational identity and to the latter as ‘construed external image°. The authors argue that the strength of organisational identification is determined by the extent to which the organisational dentin) and external image contribute to the individual’s self-esteem, self-distinctiveness, and self-continuity. Individuals rend to Ben.fy with organisations that help them enhance their self-esteem, provide them with a sense of uniqueness, and help them maintain their self-image.
The key strength of this article is that it provides a fairly comprehensive model of organisational identification. The authors integrate research horn areas such as social identity, self-concept and organisational identity. The article, however, does not recognise the realities of the modem workplace wherein individuals may have multiple demands for identification, such as the case of a person who holds two part-lime jobs. The article also assumes identification with a monoliths organisation, while in reality individuals may tend to identify prima)* with their workgroup.
c) Conclusion(approximately 200 words): This final section should state the central argument you are making and use the reference material to substantiate your position. It should present your understanding of the topic, identify key variables, and provide a rationale for why you choose to include these 5 articles.
(d) Appendix) Take a screen shot of the abstracts of the articles in your bibliography and include them in an appendix. You are to copy the entire abstract (not the entire article) and insert it into your appendix so thefts legible. Note that these are not included in the word count for this piece of assessment. PART A- CASE OVERVIEW
A cadet in Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) was accused of the purpose of sexual assault of a colleague in 2014. This incident called for the significant investigation of the defendant. ACT Police arrested the male officer. The name of the defendant was Harlan Agresti. He was 21 years old, and he sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman while she was sleeping. The cadet was charged with sexual intercourse without any consent. The cases of sexual assault have become quite common in Australian Defence Force Academy has made Army Chief David Morrison give warning to all the personnel in the year 2013, but the situation remained out of control (NewsComAu, 2018).
The investigation on these issues has brought out significant and shocking facts on the treatment of the women in ADFA. The study has made it evident that there was a strong culture of the commodification of women and they are considered as the sexual objects. It has been seen that the female cadet is treated negatively as games and are not respected as the colleagues. In several workplaces, the women are treated as sex objects ad this hampers the ethics (Saunders, 2015). As per the case investigation, the accused raped an intoxicated woman by talking her into the room and assaulted her while she passed out in the place. This is unethical as one cannot hamper or touch without one’s consent (Habiba, 2017; McDonald, 2012).After the complaint made by the woman, the investigation was made, and the accused was detained. Harlan Agresti mentioned that the victim had given her consent for the intercourse. However, the accused was held responsible by the jury in the ACT Supreme Court. The investigation made on the case also revealed that ADFA has the culture of drinking at ADFA that has become the background feature of the case(Mail Online, 2018).
After all the investigation, the cadet of the AFDA was held responsible for the case and was finally jailed for raping an intoxicated female colleague. The defendant misused his power and tried to take advantage which is again unethical (Bainbridgeet al. 2018; Sadleret al. 2018).

This article deals with the issue of the sexual harassment that has become a significant issue in the Asia Pacific. I had to prepare a review on a case in which I had to provide an overview of the ethical and the unethical behaviour. Hence, this article is considered to be vital as it explores the different ethical and the unethical behaviour that is considered to be unacceptable. The study has shown that the laws related to sexual harassment are different in different places. The main strength of the article lies in the fact that it provides differences in how the sexual harassment cases are handled in Australia and the US.
This aspect is essential as I had to evacuate the given case has been analysed and whether the defender has been treated in the right manner or had been punished. The second significant strength of the article is that it provides an overview of the training which is crucial in preventing sexual harassment. The case of Australian Defence Force Academy is also a military academy, and hence the studies obtained can be related to this case. Another significant strength of this article includes that it provides the idea of the leadership and the ways it can help to overcome the destructive and the criminal behaviour in the military ranks. This has helped me to analyses ways that would help to prevent sexual harassment in Australian Defence Force Academy.
The main weakness of this article is that it does not include any information or facts related to Australian Defence Force Academy but the entire military organisation as a whole. However, the studies that are presented here are adequate to deal with the perspective of the given case.
The present report provides an overview of the sexual abuse in Australian Defence Force Academy. The case questioned the security of the women in the workplace. Australian Defence Force Academy is a military training organisation but places like that lack proper security of the women. It has been seen that the female cadet is treated negatively as games and are not respected as the colleagues. The investigation found the accused guilty and was jailed.
In this context, the central point of argument identified from the analysis of the article is that sexual harassment or discrimination at the workplace is prevalent not only in private organisations, but also in public sector organisations, especially in defence forces or in police forces. It revokes that Australian government cannot keep calm by introducing laws, but there is a high urgency of implementing the laws rigorously for preventing such cases in future and ensure safety of women workers in the workplace.
